2-How old were you when you started skating, and what got you into it?

I was probably around 5 years old in 1971. My grandfather bought my brother a couple of skateboards and I took to it right away.

3-What's your first legit memory of skateboarding?

Riding down my driveway on a Hobie board with clay wheels. Bad ass! You had to make a sharp turn at the end of the driveway or you would hit a tree.

4-Obviously you've been in the mix for a long time what kept you on the board?

It's my first love; It keeps me young. Every time I step on my board its like hearing punk rock for the first time. It's the feeling of being young, free and rebellious. There is no replacement for the feeling of skating a pool.

5- Who are your biggest influences in skateboarding?Why?

Duane Peters, Eddie Elguera and Mike Smith. Three of my all time favorites. It goes without say that DP rules my world.

8-What music gets you pumped for a session?

Old school punk rock

9-Current set-up? Any rituals/superstitions that have to do with skating?

Indy 169's, Pool Pillager, rails, and My favorite wheels of all time: Poolside Favors. 60mm. However, some rock star asshole bought out the whole stock. Superstition: I never wear any shirts with skulls on them when I skate. I also never pick up coins that are tails up.

10-Skateboarding has obviously taken you some places where is the best place you've skated out side of the home base?

Grand Cayman island was cool. Actually, anywhere I'm skating with my crew is great time.

11-If you could go skate anywhere right now where would you go?

I would probably head out to Fontanna 2. That park looks sick.

12-What's in the future for Joe?

Spreading the gospel word of VSS and finally landing a frontside invert.
